It’s a Sellout!

(Written by Jim Band on November 23, 2011.)

As predicted, we have completely sold out both Jon Schmidt performances.  If you were not able to purchase tickets, there is still a glimmer of hope.  People who have purchased tickets but find that they are unable to use them are posting messages on our Facebook page. You can send messages directly to them and see what can be worked out.  You are also free to post messages indicating a willingness to buy any excess tickets.  Please exercise appropriate care whenever posting on public social networking pages, and keep in mind that any transactions that may ensue are strictly between the parties involved, and not with Jim Band Music.

Also, we would love to get your suggestions for artists or groups you would like to see at future concerts.  Leave a post on our Facebook page. And while you are there, please “Like” us.

Helping Young People Discover Their Musical Talents

(Written by Jim Band on November 9, 2011.)

One of my favorite things about a Jon Schmidt concert is to see how many young people come out.  In many instances these are youth who are learning to play the piano or some other musical instrument, and who have been inspired by Jon’s amazing arrangements and by his teaching methods.  Jon has a way to relate to young people that makes playing music both fun and cool.  And now Steven Sharp Nelson adds to this by making it cool to be a cello player as well.

When a young person hears and falls in love with new music that is uplifting and positive, it’s a great thing.  But when we motivate a young person to discover their own musical talents and inspire them to want to perform and/or create such music, it’s an awesome thing!  The positive impacts that this can have on their own life and on the lives of those around them are enormous.

As you consider the gifts that you will give this Christmas season, consider a gift that will expose young people to the influence of incredible music while making treasured memories that will last far beyond anything that can be wrapped in paper.

See you at the show!

A Great Endorsement for Mindy Gledhill’s Show

(Written by Jim Band on March 27, 2011.)

We are just days away from the March 29 concert featuring singer-songwriter Mindy Gledhill.  The folks at Jim Band Music and Fedora AV (our affiliate company that does the sound and lighting for our shows) are busy making all of the final plans and preparations.  Production Director Ed Arrington shared with me a notable email that he received this last week from his twenty-something married daughter Lindsay.  Since this is pertinent, I thought you all might enjoy seeing the message as well:

Dad,

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Mindy Gledhill.  A friend recently shared some of her music with me… she’s pretty amazing.  She would be a great person to bring to OR for your concert series.  She does some LDS music but also does love songs, lullabies, and just fun inspirational songs.

Love,

Lindsay

It’s always gratifying to have someone from the young adult generation make a ringing endorsement of the talent we are presenting in our concerts.

Spread the word, buy your tickets online, and we’ll see you at the show, this Tuesday, 7:30 pm,  at the Venetian Theater in Hillsboro.

A Challenge Offered to Mindy’s Fans

Hi everyone - we are down to just 9 more days until Mindy comes to town to put on an awesome show for us. We have a challenge to offer to all of you who are fans of Mindy.

So get busy, accept the challenge and help us get the word out.  You might be the lucky winner who spends some amazing quality time with Mindy following her show.

Announcing our next show: Mindy Gledhill on March 29

(Written by Jim Band on February 8, 2011.)

We are very pleased to announce that singer/songwriter Mindy Gledhill will be performing for us on Tuesday, March 29, 7:30 p.m., at The Venetian Theater in Hillsboro.  This is the first time that Jim Band Music has been able to present Mindy, but we have been encouraged by many of you to bring her out so we know that she already has a following among you.  Mindy will be performing with her band, and will perform songs from her two albums: Feather in the Wind and her newest: Anchor.

For those of you who are not familiar with Mindy, we encourage you to visit her web site to sample some of her songs, see some videos, and get acquainted with her.  Accompanying Mindy will be Debra Fotheringham, who HAS been on our stage before and is a wonderful musician in her own right.

Some of you are no doubt wondering - “Why is this show on a Tuesday night instead of on a weekend?”  It turns out that Mindy is doing some touring in the Pacific Northwest, and this is the date that worked best for her tour schedule.  So, we hope you will block out the Tuesday night on your calendar, purchase some tickets, and bring the whole family to join us for another great show in a wonderful venue.

Ryan Shupe Records a Video Promo for Our Show

(Written by Jim Band on January 15, 2011.)

Ryan Shupe called us the other day and mentioned how excited he and the band were to be heading back to the Portland area.  We suggested that maybe he should record a little video message to his fans out here, and sure enough, he did just that.  You can check it out at our face book page: www.facebook.com/JimBandMusic

Why didn’t we just embed the video right here you ask?  Because we hope you will visit our face book page, leave a comment or two, and hopefully “like” it.  We  really want  to build up our face book community and find out more about what’s on your minds.

Don’t forget, tickets for the January 29th concert featuring Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband are on sale now.  Just click on the picture of the guys at the top of this page.
